ASUCI Academic Engagement program offers students an opportunity to get to know their professors outside of the classroom in a fun and informal setting. Formerly known as the Professor Luncheon series, Academic Engagement would like to provide a variety of events for students and faculty to participate in, like Ice Cream Socials, Dinners with Professors, Cooking with professors, and much more. Professors and faculty from various schools and departments on campus are invited to participate and speak about a topic of their choice. Topics range from their job requirements to their college life to their hobbies and interests, engaging students and helping them to find a common ground with their professor. Sometimes the professor just holds a question and answer session with the students allowing them to ask anything and everything that comes to mind. These informal discussions allow for student-faculty relationships to form, leading to a greater interest in the professor's classes, research opportunities and recruitment, letters of recommendation and more.
