UC Student Congress is an annual conference focused on the intersection of activism and student issues, creating conversation and teaching skills that students need to be powerful student organizers. It is also where UC students retire previous two-year campaigns and vote on a new issue for UCSA to organize around for the next two years.

UC Student Congress is held in August every year. Check back summer 2016 for info about the next event and for applications.

Each summer, USSA hosts the National Student Congress (NSC). This five-day event provides students the opportunity to participate in the shaping of the national movement and be part of making decisions that will shape the work of the United States Student Association for the 2016-2017 school year.

LegCon 2016

Starting this year, USSA’s National Grassroots Legislative Convention (LegCon) will be known as the National Student Power Summit!

After witnessing a powerful resurgence in student organizing across the nation this year, we are evolving to respond to new challenges and opportunities in the student movement. We are reimagining our spring convention as part of an ongoing effort to refocus our core values, governance structure, and operations to better serve the student movement.

At the National Student Power Summit, students from across the country will come together to attend workshops, develop grassroots organizing skills, lobby federal elected representatives, participate in direct action in historic downtown Washington, DC, and build relationships. We will also unveil our new education justice framework and a revamped vision for our organization!

The National Student Power Summit will take place March 18-21, 2016 at the Gallaudet University Kellogg Conference Hotel. Students will gather for programming Friday evening March 18 through Sunday, March 20. On Monday, March 21 students will participate in a National Student Lobby and Action Day. UCI Delegation will leave campus at 6:30 pm to fly out to DC and will return Monday after 9:00 pm. If you have any questions contact externalvp@asuci.uci.edu
