Hey, Anteaters! My name is Brennan Gonering and I’m the legislative affairs director for the 2016-17 academic year. As a transfer student myself, I will be working closely with our counterparts in the community college and Cal State systems to build collective student power around issues affecting us all, including accessibility and resources for students of marginalized communities, college affordability and state funding, housing and food insecurity, sexual violence, mental health services, and transfer pathways. I also aim to educate students on decisions their elected officials are making and to provide opportunities to influence policy for students who are normally left out of these spaces. If you’d like to get involved in improving California’s higher education for current and future students, if you’re part of a club or organization that would like to meet with an elected official, or if you have dog who needs a play-date, you can contact me at email@example.com!

Hi all! I will be one of your Legislative Affairs Co-Assistant Commissioners for this year! Working alongside Brennan and Nikki, my primary goal in this position is to ensure that the voices of our students are heard in the offices of legislators and administrators. As an avid feminist and daughter of an immigrant myself, I will particularly focus on furthering the rights of such marginalized groups. Such issues I intend to advocate for include minority representation in higher education, growing the on campus mental health resources, and higher education affordability and sustainability, along with a variety of other issues our student body faces. Ultimately, I hope my work will create an even better university out of UC Irvine. I look forward to lobbying on behalf of the students!Nikki Dalupang
