Item Number: 117 Legislation Number (B: Bill, R: Resolution): R50-101
Author:   Alvin Phan   Second:  Ariel Barnoy
Synopsis: Continuation of ASUCI Constitutional Revision Ad-Hoc Committee
Date of Presentation: May 28th, 2015

Whereas per R50-50, the Constitution Revision Ad-Hoc Committee was created within Legislative Council with the primary task of revising the ASUCI Constitution,

Whereas it has nearly been a decade since the ASUCI Constitution was last revised,

Whereas, the Committee was able to draft a final version of the constitution but was unable to reach quorum to amend the Constitution,

Whereas, the ASUCI Legislative Council and Executives have agreed that the Constitution is in dire need of revisions,

Whereas procedural precedent advises that Legislative Council review every Ad-Hoc committee at the end of the academic year to see if their is a need to have the committee continue into the next year.

Therefore, let it be resolved that the Constitutional Referrendum Committee be renewed for the academic year 2015-16,

Let it further be resolved that Ariel Barnoy (Legislative Council Speaker Pro Tempore-Designate) and the incoming Advocacy Committee Chair (also known as the Committee on Committees Chair) be tasked with appointing members to the committee as well as overseeing its’ operations

Let it further be resolved that this committee also be composed of: Alexander Fung (Administrative Affairs Vice President-Elect), Parshan Khosravi (President-Elect), with the chair and vice-chair being elected at that meeting,

Let it finally be resolved that this committee’s meetings be public and open to the student community to allow for them to participate in conversations regarding the ASUCI Constitution,
