REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Endorsement of ASUCI Constitutional Amendments Proposal

Whereas, per R50-69, ASUCI Legislative Council has passed a resolution affirming the ballot language for the ASUCI Constitution,

Whereas, the ballot language for the revised and amended ASUCI Constitution was reviewed and scrutinized at the pleasure of Legislative Council,

Whereas, the window for candidates to declare for the ASUCI Spring Elections for the 2015-2016 year is now open and students have shown their intent for election,

Whereas, all referenda that are to be voted on in the Spring Election must also appear on the ballot as a “candidate” that stands for election,

Whereas, various offices within ASUCI have been working diligently to put together the referenda language and to determine what would be required to meet the needs of ASUCI, better service and represent the student body, and provide for the flexibility needed to be effective,

Whereas, in order for the referenda to campaign as a “candidate” in the Spring Election it will require the assistance of a campaign committee and a dedicated team to ensure that student receive the publicity and information necessary in order to ensure a proper vote on the question of the referenda,

Whereas, the ASUCI Constitution Amendments Proposal, R50-69, was brought to fruition by ASUCI and ASUCI has a vested interest in the success of the referendum for the primary reason that it would amend a document essential to ASUCI Operations that is in dire need of revisions,

Whereas, ASUCI Legislative Council has the authority to endorse their support for ASUCI referenda and allow for ASUCI resources be used to help promote the the referenda to the student body during an Election,

Whereas, the ASUCI Constitutional Amendments Proposal is a referenda that will require a collective pursuit by ASUCI to be successfully articulated to the student body,

Let it Be Resolved that the ASUCI Legislative Council officially endorse the ASUCI Constitutional Amendments Proposal and support resources to be delegated to the ASUCI Constitutional Amendments Proposal,

Let it be Further Resolved that the ASUCI Legislative Council Constitutional Referendum Committee, formed by R50-50, will be responsible for and that none of these members shall be engaged in their own personal election campaign,

Let it Further be resolved that an account with funding is designated for the ASUCI Constitutional Amendments Proposal with the sum to be decided by the Executive Cabinet and approved by Legislative Council,

Let it Further be resolved that all funding set aside for the Endorsement, or “Yes” Campaign, have an equal sum set aside for a “No” Campaign for any concerned student or group of concerned students to use and run their own campaign against the ASUCI Constitutional Amendments Proposal.
