Item Number: 115 Legislation Number (B: Bill, R: Resolution): R50-99
Author:   Alvin Phan   Second:  Ariel Barnoy
Synopsis: Continuation of MyUCI Ad-Hoc Committee
Date of Presentation: May 28th, 2015

Whereas per R50-60, the MyUCI Fee Initiative was proposed as a way to fix the problem of the shrinking annual operating budget within ASUCI,

Whereas it has nearly been fifteen years since the MyUCI Fee Initiative was last changed,

Whereas, the ASUCI Legislative Council and Executives have agreed that due to the current ASUCI Student Fee not adjusting for inflation, this would have long-term repercussions within the organization financially,

Whereas, we have already seen these repercussions with the consistent cutting in operational budgets of multiple offices, branches and commissions, the decline in programs and services held or offered by ASUCI and the decrease in ability for ASUCI to operate as an organization due to financial restraints,

Whereas procedural precedent advises that Legislative Council review every Ad-Hoc committee at the end of the academic year to see if their is a need to have the committee continue into the next year,

Therefore, let it be resolved that the MyUCI Fee Initiative Committee be renewed for the academic year 2015-16,

Let it further be resolved that Ariel Barnoy (Legislative Council Speaker Pro Tempore-Designate) and the incoming Advocacy Committee Chair (also known as the Committee on Committees Chair) be tasked with appointing members to the committee as well as overseeing its’ operations,

Let it further be resolved that this committee also be composed of the incoming Executive Cabinet, with the chair and vice-chair being elected at that meeting,

Let it finally be resolved that this committee’s meetings be public and open to the student community to allow for them to participate in conversations regarding the MyUCI Fee Initiative.
