REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE ASUCI SENATE |

All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Synopsis: Appointments for Humanities and Education Senator | |

| Whereas, the Humanities and Education Senator seats are currently vacant; Whereas, the ASUCI Constitution states that “If a senate seat is vacant, the Senate may appoint a student who meets the relevant qualifications to fill the vacancy” under Article 6, Section 1, Subsection (d), Clause (2); Whereas, the ASUCI By-Laws state the “Vacancies in the Senate shall be filled by appointment of the Rules Committee with a two-thirds (2/3) consent of voting Senators present” under Article III, Section E, Subsection 3; Whereas, the ASUCI Senate convened and interviewed qualified applicants presented by the Rules Committee on March 16, 2017; Whereas, the ASUCI Senate deliberated and considered the merits of candidates selected by the Rules Committee; Therefore, let it be resolved that the ASUCI Senate approves the appointment of Tin Hong to serve as the Humanities Senator until the conclusion of Spring Quarter, 2017; Be it further resolved that, the ASUCI Senate approves the appointment of Amrit Sidhu to serve as the Education Senator until the conclusion of Spring Quarter, 2017. |
