Whereas, groupthink has many negative and sometimes catastrophic implications and consequences [1], and;

Whereas, groupthink is a constant threat to any organization, and;

Whereas, student government provides the ideal setting for groupthink to grow, and;

Whereas, groupthink denies representation to students who voted elected student representatives into office, and;

Whereas, refusing to extricate groupthink from student government is an active form of tyranny, and;

Whereas, an effective and competent leader will work to protect their team and their constituents from the ill effects of groupthink [2].

Therefore, let it be resolved that President of ASUCI hold a workshop each quarter about groupthink , the difinition, description, types, effects, causes, remedies, etc., with each branch of ASUCI to prevent groupthink and take action to remedy groupthink in a manner that promotes self-efficacy, courage, trust, autonomy, and genuine representation of UCI undergraduate students, for as long as student government exists.
