ASUCI Student Center Marquee Policy

The primary purpose of the ASUCI Student Center Marquees is to enhance the quality of student life through increased communication to the general student population about programs, events, and activities.

Posting Guidelines

ONLY on campus programs, events, and activities of significant interest to the general student population will be posted on the marquee.

Student organization sponsored events and programs (not meetings) and ASUCI sponsored events will be given priority placement. ASUCI provides no guarantee that every program, event, or activity for which a request is received will be posted.

Announcements will require exceptional approval from the Executive Director.

No commercial advertising.

Alcohol may not be advertised.

No commercial sponsorships. Programs, events, and activities with commercial sponsorship may not use the name of the commercial sponsor in the marquee display.

No political campaigning of any kind.

No disrespectful or derogatory language directed toward any individual, organization, department, or school.  All posts must comply with the University’s non-discrimination policy.

Only events with date, time, name/title, and location of the event will be posted.

Requests will not be taken over the phone or via email.

Posting Procedures

All posting requests shall be submitted through the ASUCI website at http://www.asuci.uci.edu/marquee.

The Marquee Request shall be submitted to the ASUCI website as follows:
Must be submitted 5 working days before event

No program, event, or activity will be posted within two (2) working days of the program. (this means that there will be no "rush" postings done)

The maximum length of time any message may be posted is two (2) weeks. The length of time a program is displayed is at the discretion of ASUCI.

Formatting

We request that all departments and campus organizations design their own posting.  We accept Photoshop (PSD), JPG, and Windows Media (AVI).  Please use RGB/8bit color and 72dpi.

The dimensions are as follows in pixels:  Facing Aldrich Hall 64w x 80h  -  Facing Humanities 176w x 64h

When creating files, we recommend nothing smaller than a 12 point font, and darker backgrounds for maximum visability.

Multiple slides may be used to accommodate larger amounts of information.  We recommend no more than three (3) slides, and each posting will be viewable for a maximum of 10 seconds (exceptions may be made for event series and video submissions).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

We no longer allow ESP files to be uploaded to the system. We have now added the option of JPG files. Also, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you follow the formatting guidelines stated above. We've been receiving files that are in the thousands of pixels, and we cannot post those to our boards. We cannot fix or design your files for you.

Notice: You cannot create a file and shrink it down to the sizes we stated above. Doing this will shrink the text below the allowable size, and we will not be able to post it!
