What is Liaisons Council?
Liaisons Council composes of various student representatives from individual communities within UC Irvine. They represent their community at ASUCI and acts as an intermediary between the ASUCI President and the community they represent. A liaison must be an active member within their community in order to have a strong understanding of current needs/concerns of the community. Liaisons also have an opportunity to create new collaborative projects between ASUCI and their respective student constituency and initiate advocacy issues on behalf of student government. We hope that Liaisons council will play an integral role in enhancing campus climate and creating an efficient bridge between Students and ASUCI.
This year, we would like to foster and maintain stronger connections between students and ASUCI, and to address the needs and concerns of student communities and organizations on campus. We plan to do this by establishing consistent communication with student representatives, and by hosting events with the communities and organizations that are represented on our council.
Iybie Kang: I will be focusing on working with UCI’s Alumni Association, Campus Organizations Resources & Education (CORE), the Disabilities Services Center (DSC), our campus’ eSports gaming community, international students, and the Student Outreach and Retention Center (SOAR).
Carolina Dominguez-Burciaga: Hello everyone! My name is Carolina Dominguez-Burciaga I am a fourth year double majoring in Political Science and Social Policy and Public Service, and I will be one of your co-commissioners for this years Liaison’s council! This year I will be working with the LGBT Center, Greek Life, the Cross-Cultural Center, Campus Assault Resources & Education Center (CARE), Veterans Services and Undocumented Resources. Throughout my past 3 years at UCI I have been involved with various clubs and organizations on and off campus, including internships, research and volunteering. As a Liaison I hope to give back to all the different communities that I have been apart of during my time here, target specific issues, and enhance campus climate and overall student experience.
