[2019-2020 Internal Vice President] Sustainability Project and Garden Intern Application

The Sustainability Project and Garden Commission focuses on raising advocacy and awareness surrounding sustainability-themed topics. The Commission will program and advocate for topics including environmental justice, waste management, recycling, reducing waste, energy efficiency, sustainable lifestyles, but are not solely limited to these. The mission of the commission is to increase the overall awareness about green initiatives on and off campus to work towards the school’s zero-waste and sustainability goals. It will inform students about ways that they can live a sustainable life and how to protect the community and environment around us. The commission will collaborate with the community to establish sustainability and raise awareness about current environmental topics. The commission will focus on the garden that is located by the Arroyo Vista Housing Amphitheatre. The garden will continue to be a place of education and sustainable. It will serve to uplift the UCI Community and continue to share the importance of community gardens, sustainable farming, and will serve to produce fresh produce. The commission will work to expand local gardens in other ACC communities and work to gaining more volunteers to sustain the gardens as well. This year, the garden and sustainability commission will work together to achieve these goals.
