Marilyn HernandezCommunity Outreach Commissioner
Role of Community Outreach: The Community Outreach staff will be working to outreach to future students from local communities such as Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Orange County in order to provide resources and support for them in their transition into higher education. This branch is composed of Middle School Outreach, High School Outreach, and Community College Outreach. Resources this commision may provide include college prep, education on social justice topics that may affect them, and personal support to help future students with their personal journeys towards the goal of getting to a 4-year university such as the University of California, Irvine.

Marilyn Hernandez – 4th Year Political Science and Environmental Science Double Major

Greeting fellow Anteaters! My name is Marilyn, and I will be serving as your Community Outreach director for the 2017-2018 school year. The Community Outreach team will be implementing lesson plans and programs in local Orange County public schools ranging from kindergarten to high school. We will be directing our efforts towards specific communities to provide workshops and other resources that will allow accessibility to resources that are not easily handed to them. Our lesson plans will highlight social justice issues that directly affect these communities such as environmental racism, mental health, and the school-to-prison pipeline. Community Outreach additionally hopes to prepare students for the transition from K-12 education to higher learning institutions, and educate students on how to successfully maneuver within these spaces.

If you have any questions, comments, or would like to get involved with our outreach efforts, feel free to contact me at . zOT zOT zOt!
