The Local Outreach commission provides the tools and resources UCI students need to work alongside political organizations and nonprofits in Orange County. With the help of this commission, students will be able to be a part of external advocacy spaces on campus that work to fight issues that affect them right here at home such as food and housing insecurity, student worker rights, and the school to prison pipeline. The local outreach commission will provide students with transportation and access to the political organizations that combat these same issues in the surrounding communities of Irvine.

Hello, Anteaters! The local outreach commission is designed to gap the bridge between the political movements occurring in our surrounding cities and the political movements occurring on campus. Alongside with Matthew, the assistant director, we will be working with political organizations and nonprofits in Orange County. We are not a community service based commission, instead we focus our efforts on working with local organizations whose work and campaigns are political.
For the 2016-2017 year we will be focusing on issues that directly affect students such as food and housing insecurity, the school to prison pipeline, and student worker rights. I will coordinate meetings and campaigns with my branch, as well as organize transportation for students to be involved in Orange County political advocacy work. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please make sure to email me at email@example.com! We look forward to seeing you join our team or work alongside us to uplift these movements.
