Student Support and Advocacy

John Robb

Student Support and Advocacy Commissioner

Hey there! My name is John, and I am excited to serve as your Commissioner for Student Support & Advocacy this year. This is my second year in UCI and ASUCI; last year, I was an intern in Student Life and Advocacy, a now disbanded commission for student wellbeing. I am very excited to continue the work of student advocacy and initiative building, while meeting even more amazing individuals! Outside of ASUCI, I am a second year Public Health Science major, avid Pokemon Go player, and Disney/Marvel fanatic.

Every student has the right to benefit from all our beautiful campus has to offer. The mission of Student Support & Advocacy is to work with campus departments, student organizations, and others in ASUCI to improve structural support for all students. We will advocate for students in financial difficulties, personal crisis, student rights, and more through educational events and social media campaigns. Support & Advocacy will also work to educate students on their rights, and the rights of specific communities within the undergraduate population. By connecting students with ASUCI, departments, and organizations, we hope to give each student the opportunity to develop their own unique support structure for their time here at UCI.

  1. Increasing Awareness and Action on Student Rights (women’s rights, disability rights, noncitizen rights, workers’ rights, etc.)
  2. Improving and Creating Resources for Students in Financial or Personal Crisis
  3. Supporting Students with Events to Teach Important Life Skills
