Transfer Student Support Commission

Jan Paolo Canteras

Transfer Student Support Commissioner

Hello everyone! My name is Paolo I am a fourth year Psychology major and it’s my second year as a transfer student. My pronouns are he/him/his. I started off my journey at UCI as an intern for the Mental Health Commission, Student Health and Wellness Commission and a mentee for Visions Leadership. These experiences have taught me about different resources and opportunities that UCI has to offer. It has helped me grow as a leader, and it gave me the opportunity to work with the exceptional professional staffs and student-leaders that led me to use this platform to serve the transfer community. I am very excited to be the first Transfer Student Support Commissioner under the office of IVP and as I am growing in this position day by day, I am very open to receive any form of feedback to better the transfer-specific experiences.

Office Hours: Mondays 12pm-1pm via Zoom

-Plan and execute an student-led mentoring program that will create a space for incoming transfer students to discuss academic expectations, to build a community of their network, and to learn key strategies to achieve their desired goals and academic successes at UCI and beyond through events and workshops with experienced faculty, professional staffs and transfer student mentors.

-Create events that are designed to provide awareness of the opportunities at UCI that will help transfer students with their transition, meet other transfer students and highlight their pride as a transfer student.
