REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Account #6012-7280 (SIAP) Stipend Reallocation

Whereas, the ASUCI Budget for the 2006-2007 fiscal year had allocated funds for a stipend for the Student Initiated Academic Preparation Director; and

 

Whereas, the account number for that stipend is #6012-7280; and

 

Whereas, the amount allocated for the stipend is $1000, payable over an eight-month period, and

 

Whereas, three individuals are now rightfully fulfilling the many responsibilities of what was planned to be given to one commissioner, and

 

Whereas, those three responsibilities are priorities in effectively organizing the campus toward the goal of finding dependable funds for Student Initiated Academic Preparation Programs; and

 

Whereas, those three responsibilities include the following, each vested onto one person:

 

  1. ASUCI Appointee to the SIAP Funding Advisory Board
  2. Campus organizer and ASUCI appointee to the Students Outreaching for Academic Preparation (SOAP) coalition
  3. ASUCI liaison to the State-wide Student Initiated Outreach (SIO) coalition, and

 

Whereas, no ASUCI funds are or will be used to fund any SIAP program, which is expressly forbidden according to the ASUCI constitution,

 

Let it be resolved that account number 6012-7280 be split three ways, where each individual receives a quarterly stipend of $110, totaling $990, and

 

Let it further be resolved that the remaining $10 in the account be moved into account number 6423-7280, titled Programming Costs, and

 

Let it finally be resolved that those three individuals be conferred with ASUCI Commissioner status for the tenure of their appointment.
