Whereas, the ASUCI student and staff offices have been using office furniture (desks, chairs, file cabinets, etc.) that was purchased in the mid 1970’s, and

Whereas, the current office furniture is beginning to show extreme wear and tear, and

Whereas, the current office furniture has been fully depreciated and outlived its useful life, and

Whereas, ASUCI will be moving into new office space in the New Student Center this summer, and

Whereas, the other departments (Housing Administrative Services, Dean of Students, Scheduling & Conference Services, etc) housed in the New Student Center are ordering new furniture, and

Whereas, ASUCI would not want to portray an office image that was significantly different or less professional than the other departments housed in the New Student Center, and

Whereas, ASUCI has the financial resources to enhance our new office spaces through the purchase of new furniture including but not limited to desks, chairs, file cabinets, tables, hutches and other work area accessories, and

Whereas, it is within the duties of members of Legislative Council to enact "legislation necessary and proper for the general welfare of the undergraduate students" as outlined by Article IV, Section A, Point 1 of the ASUCI Constitution,

Let it therefore be resolved that ASUCI purchase new office furniture for the ASUCI offices in the New Student Center in an amount not to exceed $120,000 from the Unrestricted ASUCI Reserves Account to be installed into the New Student Center for the grand opening Fall 2007.

Let it finally be resolved that the purchase of new office furniture follow the general specifications outlined by Tangram in attached office diagram.
