REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Free Money for Students

Whereas, ASUCI passed a resolution supporting the STAR Act because of the enormous financial benefits it would provide to students upon passing federally, and

Whereas, regarding any student issue, informing the student body in an exciting and active way is necessary and the obligation of our student government, and

Whereas, an event supporting the STAR Act and other forms of increasing financial aid and halting tuition hikes would be incredibly beneficial to the student body, therefore,

Let it be resolved that this event, Free Money for Students, will be held on Wednesday May 11th, 2005 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Humanities Star Plaza.

Let it further be resolved that $ 999.50 be allocated from Council Unallocated Account #6501-7115 in the following appropriations:

Tables- 4x ($9) = $36
Chairs- 8x ($2) = $16
Fencing = $50
Bags of Ice- 15x ($2.50) = $37.50
Box of Otter Pops (50)- 10x ($12) = $120
Band (Linx/Stairwell)= $250
P.A. System/Mixer/Speakers/Mic/Stands= $75
Fliers and Posters = $100
Copies (Petitions/Raps/Information Packets) = $ 300
Podium = $15.00

Let it further be resolved that Legislative Council support this event by attending it and publicizing it among their constituents.

Let it further be resolved that CALPIRG and the Cross Cultural Center work with ASUCI for this event and co-sponsor it if so desired.

Let it finally be resolved that all unused funds be returned to Council Unallocated Account #6501-7115.
