REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Support of Great Annual Smokeout

Whereas, 31% of college students use tobacco products, including cigarettes; and,

 

Whereas, second hand smoke leads to 4,700 deaths annually in the state of California; and,

 

Whereas, the majority of addicted college tobacco users want to quit but are unsuccessful; and,

 

Whereas, tobacco cessation support increases the likelihood of successful quit attempts; and,  

 Whereas, the Great American Smokeout seeks to educate and provide support for quitting tobacco; and,

 

Whereas, it is the duty of legislative council representatives to promote the well-being of students;

 

Therefore, Let is be resolved that ASUCI officially supports and co-sponsors the Great American Smokeout;

 

Let it further be resolved that $150.00 be allocated from Council Unallocated Account #6501-7115 in order to support the Great American Smokeout;

 

Brochures- $80

Equipment (tables & chairs)- $70

 

Let it further be resolved that all unused funds will be returned to Council Unallocated Account# 650 1-7115; and,

 

Let it finally be resolved that ASUCI continue its commitment to a healthier campus for all students.
