REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Food for Thought

Whereas, it is the responsibility of ASUCI to do anything within its means to enhance the experience of students at UCI, and

Whereas, due to the loss of the Student Center, students have experienced a diminished variety of food selection and an increase in prices, and 

Whereas, in its efforts to address such a pressing issue, the ASUCI Legislative Council has chosen “Dining” as one of its action agenda items for the year and has established a “Dining Committee” to lead the efforts, and

Whereas, the “Dining Committee” deems it important to obtain feedback from the students in regards to their food preferences and/or their concerns pertaining to prices and location of food service facilities on campus, and 

Whereas, “Food for Thought” would encourage communication between the Legislative Council Representatives and their constituencies, while serving to increase visibility for ASUCI,

Therefore, Let it be resolved that “Food for Thought” be held in order to allow students to express their needs and preferences in regards to food services on campus, on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 from 12:30pm-2:00pm at the Flag Poles,

Let it further be resolved that students will be encouraged to fill out a short survey to communicate their needs, 

Let it further be resolved that $700.00 be allocated from Council Unallocated Account #6501-7120 for the following appropriations:

Food: $475.00
Scheduling Costs (Tables, trashcans, chairs): $150.00
Miscellaneous: $75.00

Let it further be resolved that Public Info Committee make posters to promote the event, posted by Monday November 14, 2005, and

Let it finally be resolved that any remaining funds be returned to Council Unallocated account #6501-7120  and that ASUCI Legislative Council put forth efforts to support this event by wearing their ASUCI t-shirts, and helping with setup.
