Whereas, with the anticipated completion of the new Student Center, ASUCI purchased a set of two new LED Marquees to replace the technologically outdated single line Marquee in March of 2007, under the following specifications:

Sign A - 4' 19" X 12' LED mounted, installed with full video, text, graphics, and animation capabilities
Sign B - 5' 6" X 4' 9" LED mounted, installed with full video, text, graphics, and animation capabilities

Whereas, after the instillation and operation of Sign B (5’6” X 4’9” LED), we have not received the positive expected results from the specifications originally ordered, and

Whereas, the Marquees greatly enhance ASUCI’s as well as other UCI clubs and organizations on campus promotional and advertising abilities, and

Whereas, the Marquees provide an invaluable medium for dispersing pertinent information to the student body, and

Whereas, the ability of campus-wide emails to reach out and communicate with the student body has steadily diminished in effectiveness.    

Therefore, let it be resolved that ASUCI agree to purchase a replacement for “Sign B” for a total not exceeding $120,000 from the ASUCI Reserves Account after the following conditions have been met.

Condition 1) The new Marquee be installed into the new Student Center, under the following specifications:

Sign C - 4' 19" X 12' LED mounted, installed with full video, text, graphics, and animation capabilities. 

Condition 2) A re-sale/relocation plan (i.e. a secured contract agreement from the supplier for re-sale or suitable new location on campus) has been submitted to the Legislative Council for the replaced “Sign B.”

Condition 3) A full expense report detailing the total costs associated with the purchase and instillation of the new “Sign C” Marquee has been submitted to the Legislative Council.
