REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: School of Physical Sciences Spring Event

Whereas, it is the duty of the Physical Sciences Representative to improve communication and awareness between Physical Sciences clubs and Physical Sciences students,

Whereas, the Physical Sciences Representative, along with the Physical Sciences Student Affairs Office, made a commitment to participate in hosting an event aimed at increasing their constituents' awareness of these clubs,

Whereas, this event is the only event the Physical Sciences Representative is throwing this year that requires funding,

Whereas, there are only three Physical Sciences clubs on the UCI Campus Organizations website,

Whereas, only  the president of American Chemical Society Student Affiliates (ACS-SA) replied expressing interest

Whereas, ACS-SA are planning an event with guest speaker, nobel prize winner Dr. Rowland of UCI,

Whereas, ACS-SA is partaking in fund raising efforts that are not enough to throw the event,

Whereas, providing food and drinks will help attract faculty and students and bring them together in an fun and informal setting,

Whereas, there will be a reception after Dr. Rowland’s talk,

Whereas, promotion, setup and coordination of the event will be a joint effort between the ACS-SA and the Physical Sciences Representative,

Whereas, other Legislative Council members are welcome to participate in this event,

Whereas, anticipated expenses for the event are as follows:
Projector $50
Cordless Lav Microphone $20
Podium $5
2 microphones (for Q&A at the end of each aisle) $10
Registration area $7
6 tables for food $30
Clearing the Lobby $108
Event Manager for 6-10 $81
AV Tech 6-10 $81 ( $18/hr)
Parking signage at all entrances $60
at 4 ent. $55
at 3 ent $45
at 2 ent. $35
at 1 ent. $25
Additional $25 for sign from parking structure to the student center
$1/isle for signs in the student center
Fenced area for alcohol: $100-$200
Food (UCI catering): up to $700

Therefore, let it be resolved that ASUCI Legislative Council allocates $700 from Council Unallocated account #6501-7120 to help fund the event,

Let it finally be resolved that this event occur on Tuesday, June 3rd (week 10) from 6:30 pm- 8:30 pm in the Student Center.
