REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Transfer of Funds for Campus Movie Fest

Whereas, ASUCI has decided to co-sponsor a week-long, campus-wide, and business-operated movie making experience featuring 35 schools and 100,000 students,

 

Whereas, Campus MovieFest is a nationally recognized event that is sponsored by Apple, AT&T, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, mtvU and Virgin Mobile,

 

Whereas, other colleges such as USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Stanford and NYU already host Campus MovieFest on their campuses,

 

Whereas, during the week that Campus MovieFest is on campus they bring all necessary equipment, including editing stations, cameras, computers and working professionals to help coach students in the production of their movies,

 

Whereas, the Campus MovieFest team provides all of the tools, staff, expertise, prizes and promotional materials,

 

Whereas,  ASUCI simply needs to provide the funding and manpower to support them,

 

Whereas, this is the first time this event has been held at UCI and there is no budget for the event,

 

Let it be resolved that a total of  $6,000 be transferred to a special account, entitled Campus MovieFest (account# 6423-7110), from the following accounts:

 

Visual Media- Program Costs             (Account # 6423-7030)           $1,000

Speakers and Debate-Program Costs  (Account # 6423-7270)           $2,500

Special Events- Program Costs           (Account # 6423-7420)           $2,500
