REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Purchase of New ASUCI Computers

 Whereas, UC policy recommends replacing computers every 3 years, and

Whereas, it has been 3 years since computers have been purchased for Student Government Staff, and

Whereas, there are additional staff members being hired who will need computers and additional marketing/web design students who currently use yearbook computers that can benefit from using old staff computers, and

Whereas, Windows XP is no longer supported and the IT Manger has been testing Windows 7 and deems it ready for general office use and it is compatible with all of our software, and

Whereas, Student Government currently has on-site server backup but does not have off-site backup that most other departments have,

Let it therefore be resolved that $25,000 be allocated from ASUCI Reserves (account #6010) for 12 new staff computers, 30 upgrades to Windows 7, and a Drobo Pro Elite for offsite backup,

Let it further be resolved that the IT Manager shall be responsible for making these purchasers and any remaining funds shall remain in ASUCI Reserves. 

Let it finally be resolved that 3 current staff computers be reallocated for office use, and the remaining computers may be sold or distributed to other campus departments.
