Whereas, the ASUCI constitution demands that Student Government "promotes the welfare and the interests of the undergraduate students",

Whereas, higher education is facing turbulent times,

Whereas, the affordability, accessibility, and quality of education has suffered troubling budget cuts and tuition hikes,

Whereas, the Student Lobby Conference (SLC) gives the opportunity for students to meet with state senators and assembly members at the California State Capitol,

Whereas, the 2012 SLC will focus on lobbying decision makers on alternative revenue for California and Higher Education, as well as accountability from UC officials,

Whereas, the 2012 Student Lobby Conference will take place from March 2nd to March 5th in Sacramento,

Whereas, the 2012 Student Lobby Conference is entirely free for students, all costs covered by ASUCI,

Whereas, the fantabulastic ASUCI Office of the Executive Vice-President (ASUCI EVP) is organizing the 2012 SLC, committing to take a record-high number of 90 delegates, the largest delegation of all the UCs,

Whereas, ASUCI EVP is using $20,000 of allocated funds from the account  6423-7170 to pay for Hotel, Food and Registration costs,

Whereas, more funding is needed to cover costs of Transportation,

Whereas, there is leftover funding from ASUCI EVP accounts from past conferences,

Whereas the UC Student Association Congress account, 6431-7160 has a remaining $1,165,

Whereas, the UC Student Association Student of Color Conference account, 6423-7160 has a remaining $1,083.35,

Whereas, combined, the two accounts above can help fund the Transportation costs of the 2012 SLC in its entirety,

Let it be resolved, that the remaining funds from the UC Student Association Congress, 6431-7160, and the remaining funds from the UC Student Association Student of Color Conference, 6423-7160, adding to a total of $2,245.83, be transferred to the 2012 SLC account, 6409-7170, for the purpose of funding two charter buses.
