All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Social Ecology Week Funding

Whereas, the Office of Academic Affairs strives to enhance students’ college experiences through dynamic avenues of mentorship, leadership and enrichment program,

Whereas, the Academic Engagement commission is housed under the Office of Academic Affairs,

 

Whereas, the Academic Engagement commission strives to forge the connection between faculty and students through activities beyond the classroom environment,

 

Whereas, Legislative Council Representatives serve as the liaison between the students and faculty, staff and the dean,

 

Whereas, it is both Academic Affairs VP and Legislative Council representatives’ goal to promote student life, education, and overall welfare,

 

Whereas, both Academic Affairs Vice President and Social Ecology Representative have met with Dean Jenness from the School of Social Ecology,

 

Whereas, Dean Jenness strongly supports the project proposal of the First Annual Social Ecology week,

 

Whereas, Social Ecology week will focus on a series of speaker engagement events, social activities for faculty and students, as well as graduate school/career workshop,

 

Whereas, the current Social Ecology Representatives have been working with the Office of Academic Affairs and have agreed to host Social Ecology week during Week 7 (November 18th-20th) of Fall quarter 2013,

 

Whereas, after consulting with Catering for “Melt & Mingle Fondue Night” options, refreshments for daily events and daily prizes,

 

Whereas, such an event will help tremendously publicize ASUCI Legislative Council and Council’s presence and footprint on campus,

 

Let it be resolve, that $500 will be taken out of Council Unallocated Account (#6501-7115) to subsidize the costs of Social Ecology Week as listed in the budget below,

 

Let it further be resolved, that Legislative Council supports this week long event.

 

Budget Overview:

Refreshments for Speaker Engagement, Graduate Panel & Club Night --- $400 (Possible partnership with Dining and seeking sponsorships)

Fondue Night--- $753.30

Digital & Print Marketing--- $450 (Covered by ASUCI Advertisement Cost)

 

Total: $1603.30

Dean’s Welcome & Guest Professor Lectures

Tuesday: Melt & Mingle with Dean Jenness

Social Activity for Dean, faculty members and students

Wednesday: Graduate School/Career Panel
