REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Funding of Spring 2014 Biological Sciences Week

 Whereas, it is the duty of ASUCI Legislative Council Representatives to engage actively with the students, faculty, staff, and the deans,

Whereas, it is our goal as Associated Students UCI to promote more interaction between the students with each other as well as the faculty, administrators, and deans,

Whereas, it is our responsibility to provide students with the opportunity to engage with their fellow peers as well as with their dean and staff,

Whereas, Bio Sci Week is a series of events and workshops hosted by the Biological Sciences Student Council, ASUCI Legislative Council Representatives, and the ASUCI office of Academic Affairs to provide this opportunity for the Biological Sciences students to engage with the biological, pre-health, and pre-med organizations on this campus,

Whereas, the following events have met the approval of the Ayala School of Biological Sciences staff:

Sunday:

·         UCI Marsh Tour—scheduled for 11AM with Dr. Bowler

Monday:

·         BSC Stress Ball Making Booth—10AM-3PM on Ring Road

·         Dean’s Welcome—4PM Mitosis Plaza.

Tuesday:

·         Kaplan Career Center Boothing—10AM-3PM

·         Fondue with Faculty—4PM Mitosis Plaza.

Wednesday:

·         Kaplan Suture Clinic—6-8PM Nat Sci II Rm 4201.

Thursday:

·         Observatory Night—8:30-10PM.

Whereas, the following costs are anticipated for these events:

Whereas, such events will help increase the visibility of these student organizations as well as the Biological Student Council, ASUCI Legislative Council Representatives, and the ASUCI office of Academic Affairs,

Let it be resolved, that 686.35 dollars will be taken out of the Legislative Council Unallocated Account #6501-7115 and then moved to the Office of Academic Engagement Account #6423-7250 towards the costs of Bio-week as listed above under the direction of the office of Academic Affairs, and

Let it be resolved, that Legislative Council supports this week long event as well as the Biological Sciences Student Council and all other clubs and organizations involved with Bio Sci Week and hopes to increase visibility of all of these organizations.
