All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Synopsis: Authorization of Monetary Expenditure for "Global Eaters" | |

| Whereas, by R50-17 “A Resolution for the Creation of an International Center Committee,” an Ad Hoc committee was commissioned within ASUCI’s Legislative Council to “service the needs of international students,” and Whereas, the abovementioned resolution thereby highlighted a lack of accurate representation of the international student population at UC Irvine, and Whereas, it can be argued that said population struggles to find a sense of mutual respect and cultural awareness on campus, and Whereas, the Academic Engagement commission within ASUCI’s Office of Academic Affairs strives to execute programs beneficial to the welfare of all UC Irvine students, and Whereas the commission has collaborated with several councilmembers, including members of the International Center Ad Hoc Committee, to plan a multicultural food fair in an effort to raise campus awareness of UC Irvine’s ethnic diversity, and Whereas the event, named “Global Eaters,” will take place at Humanities Ring A on January 13th, 2014 from 12-4 P.M., and Whereas the event space reservations for the following participating organizations and campus units have been booked with Student Center and Event Services and are as follows: #205—Cross Cultural Center #206—Southeast Asian Student Association (SASA) #207—Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) #208—International Center #233--Kababayan (KABA) #234—Hmong Student Association #235—Thai Club (TC) #236—Project RISHI (Rural India Social and Health Improvement) #237—Filipinos Unifying Scientist-Engineers In an Organized Network (FUSION) #238—Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) #239—Movimiento Estudiantil Chican@ de Aztlan (MEChA) #240—Tomo No Kai (Tomo) Whereas, to promote the event, the Academic Engagement commission has already committed $200 to make available 100 ($2) vouchers that students may use to redeem a free food item, Now, be it resolved by the Legislative Council of ASUCI that it authorizes the transfer of $200 out of Council Unallocated Account (7115-6501) to Academic Engagement Programming Account (7250-6423) to be used for an additional 100 vouchers, and Let it further be resolved that all councilmembers make a commitment to attend the event (at least in part), and to encourage their constituencies to do the same. |
