REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Academic Advising Survey Funding

Whereas, the University of California, Irvine offers academic advising to all undergraduate students, hosted by their specific academic schools

 

Whereas, academic advising is overseen by the Dean of Undergraduate Education’s office

 

Whereas, the At-Large Representatives of ASUCI Legislative Council work directly with the Dean of Undergraduate Education

 

Whereas, the Dean of Undergraduate Education, Dr. Michael Dennin, has discussed with the ASUCI Legislative Council At-Large Representatives a lack of documented student feedback regarding academic advising

 

Whereas, the ASUCI Office of Academic Affairs houses the Academic Senate commission

 

Whereas, the mission of the ASUCI Academic Senate commission is to promote and facilitate transparency and communication between UCI administration, faculty, and students

 

Whereas, the ASUCI Academic Senate commissioners have also discussed the need of academic advising surveys with Dr. Michael Dennin,

 

Whereas, the ASUCI Academic Senate commission has worked with Dr. Michael Dennin and the Academic Advisors to develop a EEE survey for student feedback about Academic Advising

 

Whereas, the EEE survey would have higher participation rates if monetary incentives are offered for students to fill it out,

 

Let it be resolved that the ASUCI Legislative Council collaborate with the ASUCI Academic Senate commission to host comprehensive student surveys of the Academic Advising.

 

Let it be further resolved that $150 be transferred from the ASUCI Legislative council unallocated account (7115-6501) to the ASUCI Academic Senate (6423-7010) account for use for incentives for the survey.
