All requests may be typed and submitted to the President of the Senate no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The President of the Senate reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Senate session if the President of the Senate feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Synopsis: Funding PASS’s Transitional Retreat of Summer 2017 | |

| Whereas, ASUCI Senators are encouraged to engage their constituents through programs which serve to enrich the lives and experiences of the students at UC Irvine and the surrounding community
Whereas, Pilipino-Americans in Social Studies (PASS) strives to increase the representation of minorities in the professional field by providing our general members with the tools and tips that are necessary to succeed in the workspace,
Whereas, the board members must be properly transitioned during the summer to ensure that they are informed of all that may come their way during the academic year and uphold the role they have chosen
Whereas, building a successful organization begins with solidifying the leadership of the organization,
Whereas, a solid leadership foundation is essential to the providing guidance to other members,
Whereas, there are 15 board positions, but only 6 are filled as of Spring 2017,
Whereas, the amount of new board members to fill those positions will take more training than in the past,
Whereas, some of the workshops that will be held during this retreat are: how to work with SCES in regards to booking rooms for meetings and events, booking rooms at the Cross Cultural Center for general meetings, running fundraisers, running meetings, finding sponsors, how to deal with the loss of a board members, stress management, time Management, and conflict resolution,
Whereas, Senate unanimously passed a bill to fund $135.29 to UCI Engineering Student Council to host Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day Event,
Whereas, Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day Event did not technically enrich the lives of the student body at UC Irvine, but Senate supported the cause for its potential future impact,
Whereas, the transitional retreat includes a wide variety of students in different majors such as Business Economics, Criminology, Psychology and Social Behavior, Psychology, Urban Studies, Biomedical Engineering, Political Science, International Studies, Global Studies, Cognitive Sciences, and Business Administration,
Whereas, helping the board members of PASS can greatly help the overall club and its 50 members from various different fields succeed in the future,
Whereas, PASS is also connected with Pilipino Pre-Health Undergraduate Student Organization, Filipinos Unifying Scientist-Engineers in an Organized Network, and Kababayan
Whereas, PASS’s Summer 2017 transitional retreat will be one day longer (June 22-25th) than what it has previously been,
Whereas, PASS’s previous retreat costed $1,108 and charged each board member $30 to attend the retreat,
Whereas, the expenses for this year’s transitional retreat includes food, gas, supplies for workshops, and housing for 20 people,
Whereas, the expected cost of the retreat is $1,000 and the club currently has $400.00,
Let it be resolved that $200.00 be withdrawn from the Senate Unallocated Account #6501-7115 and be used to reimburse PASS for the organization’s Summer 2017 Transitional Retreat of up to $125.00, with any excess money being returned to the aforementioned account.
