Synopsis: Funding for New Senate Livestream Microphone
Date of Presentation: 2/13/18

Whereas, the livestream allows Senate meetings to be more accessible and transparent to the public,

Whereas, the current livestream microphone does not clearly record the voices of the Senators, interns, or public comments,

Whereas, the Senate wants to use the best yet most cost-efficient mic to provide better transparency to its constituents,

Whereas, the microphone brand, Rode, was decided to have the best ability to provide stated needs of a microphone,

Whereas, the Senate must decide between microphones to determine which one is best to provide clear audio for the Facebook livestreams of meetings,

Whereas, the
Rode VMGO Video Mic GO Lightweight On-Camera Microphone Super-Cardioid costs $105.00,

Whereas, the Rode VMPR VideoMic Pro R with Rycote Lyre Shockmount costs $230.00,

Whereas, ASUCI Bylaws Article XIX., Section D., Subsection 1a, states that “purchase of equipment or technology that provides a long-term benefit to the organization” as one of the conditions that must be met to access the ASUCI Reserves account, [1]

Therefore, let it be resolved that ASUCI’s Senate authorizes a monetary withdrawal from the ASUCI Reserves account, in strict accordance with the expenditures entailed below:

(a)  Rode VMPR VideoMic Pro R with Rycote Lyre Shockmount: $230

(b)  Rode VMGO Video Mic GO Lightweight On-Camera Microphone Super-Cardioid: $105.00

Therefore, let it also be resolved that the total withdrawal will not exceed $400, including the price of shipping and tax,

Therefore, let it futher be resolved that the Public Information Committee will be responsible for managing the microphone each Senate meeting once Senate has assumed ownership of the microphone,

Therefore, let it also be that the remaining money be returned to the ASUCI reserves after the apparel has been purchased,

Therefore, let it finally be resolved that $400.00 will be allocated from the ASUCI Reserves Account #6501-7805 to fund the Senate microphone.
