REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Support for Resident Guest Meals Passes

Whereas, in the 2003-2004 academic year at UC Irvine, Mesa Court and Middle Earth residents were entitled to 5 free guest meals per quarter, and

Whereas, the housing/dining contract has been modified for the 2004-2005 school year to remove the 5 free guest meals per quarter, and

Whereas, Mesa Court residents and Mesa Court Counsel have been rallying efforts to negotiate with UC Irvine Student Housing?s Residential Dining to create a compromised or better meal plan, and

Whereas, the absence of a guest meal allowance is a nuisance upon the residents, and

Whereas, since the residents pay for all their meals, they should be able to use them all, and

Therefore, let it be resolved that ASUCI recognizes the struggle of the undergraduate housing community to bring reform in the current residential meal plans,

Let it finally be resolved that ASUCI support for this cause will strengthen negotiation efforts towards residential meal plan reform.
