All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Synopsis: Support for Moving the Anthill Pub to an Alternative Location during the Student Center Renovation | |

| Whereas the Anthill Pub is a business that has been run continuously by the Associated Graduate Students since 1993 and, Whereas the Anthill Pub serves as a source of revenue for the Associated Graduate Students, with monies set aside for graduate student projects and, Considering AGS received its liquor license as the result of negotiations between itself, the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, and the UCI administration, Considering that AGS has maintained this license in good standing during the entire time it has been held, Considering AGS has run the Pub as a social meeting place for the students, staff and faculty of the UCI campus and has attempted to keep its product prices in line with student needs, Considering that the original plans for the Student Center renovation allowed for the Anthill Pub to be open continuously, Considering that when the plans for renovation were changed, a situation that would entail closing the Pub during the Student Center renovation, the UCI Department of Student Affairs offered the Anteatery as a temporary location for the Anthill Pub while the Student Center is being renovated, Considering this space, along with other on-campus food vendors such as BC Cavern and the Phoenix Grille and Cafe Med and the Anteatery have all been turned over to the Aramark Corporation, without considering a temporary facility for the Anthill Pub, and without including AGS in these negotiations, Considering over 2,000 members of the UCI community have signed petitions to keep the Pub operated solely by the Associated Graduate Students, Considering that the Anthill Pub is widely regarded by students as one of the only social meeting spaces on the UCI campus, Let it therefore be resolved that AGS and Student Affairs find a temporary location for the Anthill Pub during the Student Center renovation in one of the existing campus food vendor Locations, such as the Phoenix Grille. Let it finally be resolved that a copy of this legislation be sent to Vice Chancellor of Student Services Manuel Gomez. |
