REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Resolution in support of S.713 and H.R.1548

Whereas, Legislative Council is the voice for all students of UCI, and

Whereas, Legislative Council is charged with being an Advocate for all students at UCI, and

Whereas, There is a bill in the National Congress that if passed would benefits all students at UCI tremendously, and

Whereas, S.713 and H.R.1548 are the bills in the Senate and House of Representatives respectively that if passed would allow for charitable donations to create collegiate housing, and

Whereas, housing is of major interest to students at UCI, and

Whereas, these bills if passed would allow those who wish to donate for collegiate housing do so and have the donation count as a charitable donation for tax purposes, and

Whereas, this will encourage donation to collegiate housing and help create more housing for UCI Students, and

Whereas, S.713 and H.R.1548 would help various organizations on campus create organizational housing at UCI, and

Whereas, the Legislative Council has the constitutional ability to support congressional legislation.  

Let it be resolved that the Legislative Council of ASUCI fully endorses and supports the attached versions of S.713 and H.R1548, the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2005.

Let it also be resolved that the Legislative Council will also show support of the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2005 by informing and persuading local, state, and national elected representatives to endorse and support the Collegiate Housing Infrastructure Act.
