All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Synopsis: Survey Charge and Suggestions on Free Beer Issue | |

| Whereas, numerous constituents brought up the issue of free beer at the All-University Leadership Conference; and, Whereas, there are valid arguments both for and against free beer; and, Whereas, it is Legislative Council’s duty to represent the student body; Therefore, let it be resolved that Legislative Council charge ASUCI’s Statistical Analysis Committee (SAC) with the task of surveying the student body’s opinion on this issue so that Legislative Council might have a better understanding of the student body’s opinion regarding this issue; Let it finally be resolved that SAC consider the following information and question for the survey, as it was generated by a council member with the assistance of a professor: Information: (a) Every student contributes money to student government through their registration fees (b) These student taxes are allocated to provide a variety of services to the student body (c) Approximately __________ is spent per year on beer and represents _______________ % of the $1.3 million student budget. Please rank the following based on your individual preference: (1) ASUCI should not spend student taxes to provide free beer for students over 21 at its major events. (2) ASUCI should not spend student taxes on free beer, but should bring in a third party vendor to sell beer to students at major events. (3) ASUCI should spend student taxes to provide free beer for students over 21 at its major events. | |
