REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Student Outreach Initiative

Whereas, At Large Representatives are to represent the undergraduate student body at large and

Whereas, it is the responsibility of the At Large Representatives to communicate effectively with the associative student body.

Whereas, it is in the university's best interest to create a domain for suggestions directly on the ASUCI website so as to effectively communicate with ASUCI legislators.

 

Whereas, this will maintain the professional level of our system of communication and

 

Whereas, the Legislative branch can use the given suggestions as a more effective tool to write legislations meeting the student body's needs and/or requests. And

 

Whereas, the preamble of the Associated Students, University Of California Irvine Constitution states, "We, the undergraduate students of the University of California, Irvine community; desire to provide a forum for the expression of the student views and interests, " And

 

Whereas, a link for constituents to deliver suggestions on our website is the most feasible method for online communication at this point in the academic year of 2007-2008 and

 

Whereas, these suggestions will apply to the goals our University wishes to uphold from the above mentioned preamble of the Associated Students, University Of California Irvine Constitution.

Let it therefore be resolved that the At Large Representative be allowed to promote and initiate this domain for suggestions on the ASUCI website for all undergraduate students to use for the sole purpose of communication with the Legislative Branch.

 

Let it also be resolved that no money will be needed in the creation of this efficient form of communication between the student body and the Legislative Council representatives.
