The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Synopsis: Resolution Against UC Regents 2008-2009 Student Fee Increase | |

| Whereas, over the past six years, tuition fees have skyrocketed, rising more than 90% during during this time, and Whereas, this year the Governor of California has proposed a $331.9 million cut, which has forced Whereas, mandatory systemwide fees will increase by 7 percent, or $435 for resident undergraduates and $483 for resident graduate academic students starting in summer 2007. Whereas, this tuition fee increase could force the Whereas ASUCI Legislative Council represents the whole undergraduate student body population at the University of California, Irvine, Let it be resolved that the UCI Student Body does not approve or support the use of "fee" increases to finance the education of its students, nor the increase of costs generally at this time, and further Let it be resolved that UCI student body encourages the UC Regents and the State of California to renew their committment to the education of California's best and brightest and to support its University students in these troubled times by fully funding higher education in a responsible and sustainable way. |
