REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Legislative Council Bylaw Ammendment of Meeting Time

Whereas, the Legislative Council Bylaws currently state in Article VI, Section B, Part 1 "Council meetings shall be held Tuesday and Thursday from 5 pm until 7 pm each academic quarter," and

Whereas, the hourly academic schedule of the University of California Irvine is set to end 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the hour in a manner that will provide time for transportation to a class or engagement beginning the hour immediately following, and

Whereas, students enroll and pay a significant sum of money to attend the University of California Irvine for the purpose of receiving an education, and

Whereas, the members of Legislative Council are students at the University of California Irvine, and

Whereas, the intent of receiving an education as prepared by the university is compromised by having meetings that end at 7:00 PM, by no means in accordance with the standard hourly academic schedule of the university, and

Whereas, by adjusting the meeting times to end 10 minutes earlier at 6:50 PM, to fit the academic schedule of the university we are attending, our academic pursuits will not be compromised, and

Let it therefore be resolved that the Legislative Council Bylaws be ammended with a 3/4 vote to say

B. Regular Meetings

           1. Council meetings shall be held Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 PM until 6:50 PM each academic quarter.
