REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Resolution Against Increase in Student Fees

WHEREAS, Associated Student of University of California Irvine is the official voice of over 20,000 students at the University of California of Irvine, 

 

WHEREAS, the current proposal to be recommended to the Board of Regents at their November 2009 meeting will strive to raise fees midyear by 15% in January and another 15% fee increase for the 2010-2011 academic year,                                                                         

 

WHEREAS, this represents a fee increase of $585 from the midyear fee increase and a $1,344 fee increase from the 2010-2011 fee increase,

 

WHEREAS, this fee increase will cause many students at the University of California, Irvine to not be able to afford their college tuition,

 

WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of ASUCI to ensure that the interests and well-being of the students to be voiced to State Legislators and the Board of UC Regents,

 

LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Associated Students of University of California Irvine will actively advocate against any fee increase on the behalf of the over 20,000 students attending the University of California, Irvine.  

 

LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that Associated Students of University of California Irvine opposes the mid-year fee increase for the 2009-2010 academic year and the fee increase for the 2010-2011 academic year.
