REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: ASUCI Attendance at Townhall Meeting

Whereas, there have been many different strategies and tactics that individuals in the UC Irvine community have been executing in advocating for more state funding into the University of California and in combating against the current student fee increases,

Whereas, it is important to include all individuals of the UCI community to create a cohesive message and strategy to tackle the current financial situation of the University of California,

Whereas, there is a Townhall Meeting scheduled on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 at 5:00pm to create a unified message and tactics with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to deal with the current financial issue of the University of California,

Whereas, it is Legislative Council’s responsibility to advocate for and act upon the concerns of students at the University of California Irvine,

Whereas, it is clear that the Townhall Meeting is an opportunity for Legislative Council members to connect to their constituency,


Let it therefore be resolved, that the Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 Legislative Council Meeting be canceled, for Legislative Council to attend the Townhall Meeting,


Let it further be resolved that individuals involved in ASUCI be encouraged to attend the Townhall Meeting by the ASUCI Executive Branch and Staff.
