All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

III. Membership Provisions ... E. Vacancies and Appointments ... Whereas the current application process for appointed non-voting seats creates a window in which seats vacated at the end of the previous quarter are unfilled for several weeks, Whereas it is beneficial to have a full Council to address campus concerns and better enable the function of committee projects, Whereas the Legislative Council has sought to play a more active role at the UCI campus, Whereas the consistency that expediting the application process would bring would help to fulfill this goal, Let is therefore be resolved that the by-laws be amended as follows, effective Fall quarter 2011 (additions in bold): 3. Vacancies in the Council shall be filled by appointment of the Rules Committee with a two-thirds (2/3) consent of voting Council members present. The Rules Committee shall make Legislative Council appointment applications available two (2) weeks prior to vacancy for seats being vacated due to an expiration of the seat's term and within one (1) week of a vacancy for seats vacated in other circumstances (e.g. resignation). |
