REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Community Business Relations Director

 Whereas this Office of the President will be starting the Student Savings Program which would

be housed under Community Business Relations in order to create a Student Savings Program
which would facilitate student discounts for UCI students from businesses that might not be
offering discounts otherwise. Businesses would have to apply and enroll into the program, would
then be listed on a searchable program website and would allow businesses to opt into additional
features which have yet to be determined.
 
Whereas this program will need a director to ensure it success,
 
Whereas the Office of the President has conducted interviews for positions in the office,
 
Whereas the President, Chief of Staff and the President’s Public Relations Director have
collectively made a decision on the applicants for these various positions,
 
Whereas, certain applicant clearly showed their passion for the office and have demonstrated that
they can excel in their positions,
 
Whereas, it is customary for the appointments of a commissioner of an executive office to be
approved by Legislative Council (Art IV, Sec. B, Sub 3),
 
Let it be resolved that Legislative Council appoint Andrew Beier as Community Business
Relations Director in the Office of the President.
