Whereas it is the duty of ASUCI to improve student life on and around campus,

Whereas the other UC campuses have an established commission or program which serves to connect the respective campus with community businesses,

Whereas we believe that it is the place of student government to take the initiative and serve as a representative between local business and the UCI student community,

Whereas The Community Business Relations Director would serve as this representative and a central point of contact for both businesses and students alike,

Whereas this program will need a director to ensure it success,

Whereas the Office of the President has conducted interviews for positions in the office,

Whereas the President, Chief of Staff and the President’s Public Relations Director have collectively made a decision on the applicants for these various positions,

Whereas, certain applicants clearly showed their passion for the office and have demonstrated that they can excel in their positions,

Whereas, it is customary for the appointments of a commissioner of an executive office to be approved by Legislative Council (Art IV, Sec. B, Sub 3),

Let it be resolved that Legislative Council appoint Andrew Beier as Community Business Relations Director in the Office of the President.
