All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full. |

| Synopsis: Honoring a former member of the ASUCI Legislative Council: Michael Robert Belko | |

| Whereas Michael Robert Belko was not only an accomplished student at the University of California, Irvine, he was also a political enthusiast and an active member of the American Democratic Party; Whereas Michael Robert Belko was a multilingual individual with a fluency in the Chinese language; Whereas Michael Robert Belko had a strong interest and decent knowledge in the Chinese culture; Whereas, between June 2006 to July 2008, Michael Robert Belko volunteered as a Chinese translator at Westminster Free Clinic; Whereas, in June 2008, Michael Robert Belko graduated with a GPA of over 4.0 from Thousand Oaks High School; Whereas, in September, 2008, Michael Robert Belko enrolled at UC Irvine and chose political science and Chinese as his majors to study; Whereas, in October, 2008, Michael Robert Belko joined the UCI Chinese Association and his multilingual skill enriched the organization’s cultural diversity; Whereas, in January, 2009, Michael Robert Belko became the member-at-large representative at the ASUCI Legislative Council. He served on the Rules Committee; Whereas, in March, 2009, Michael Robert Belko was the leading author of Resolution 44-64: Creation of Health Services Committee. Whereas, in May, 2009, Michael Robert Belko was the leading author of Resolution 44-82: ASUCI Anti-discrimination Act; Whereas, on April 13, 2009, Michael Robert Belko filed the case Michael Belko vs. The Stimulus Package. His campaign assisted in preventing an increase in student fees; Whereas, in Spring Quarter, 2009, Michael Robert Belko was re-elected as the member-at-large representative; Whereas we today mourn with and send our condolences to the Belko family: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the Legislative Council of the Associated Students of UC, Irvine – 1. Commemorates Michael Robert Belko for his service at UC Irvine and his efforts to improve students’ lives; and 2. Recognizes Michael Robert Belko as a disguised student and an honorable former member of the ASUCI Legislative Council.
