REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: SPFB By-Law Change, Committee to Advocacy Position Change

Whereas, it is important to maintain consistency among the governing documents of Associated Students of UCI,

Whereas, the Student Programming Funding Board's (SPFB) By-laws are not up to date with the Council By-Laws,

Whereas, it is essential to have consistency among the two By-laws because Legislative Council has 4 members that sit on SPFB Board,

Whereas, the four Council members that sit on the SPFB Board are Council's four standing committee Chairs,

Whereas, R46-99, COC Bylaw Revision to Advocacy, was passed unanimously by council in May 2011,

Whereas, this changed Committees on Committees Chair to Advocacy Chair,

Whereas, the SPFB governing document is out of date and is inconsistent with Council's four standing committees,

Let it be resolved that the following section in the SPFB Guidelines be revised to (bold are the changes):

 

(C) Membership: 

The Board shall consist of Nine (9) members made up as follows: 

1) The ASUCI President or another Executive Officer. 

1) Legislative Council Finance Chair. 

1) Legislative Council Public Info Chair. 

1) Legislative Council Rules Chair. 

1) Legislative Council Advocacy Chair

1) Cross Cultural Center member appointed by the umbrella council. 

3) Student At-large member appointed by Legislative Council.

And the Undergraduate Student Programming Commissioner (non-voting) 

appointed by the Office of the President, and approved by the Legislative Council
