All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Anteater Express Referendum with Funding Guidelines

Whereas, Anteater Express is a vital campus service created out of the necessity to provide economical and sustainable transportation for students, and
Whereas, Anteater Express will transport approximately 2 million passengers in the 2011-2012 academic year, and
Whereas, the Anteater Express is facing funding reductions from several of its current investors, and
Whereas, a reduction in funding will cause Anteater Express to cut unfunded routes, and
 Whereas, the expansion of Anteater Express to meet the current demand is important for the growth of the school, and
 Whereas, the expansion of Anteater Express is necessary to provide increased mobility to students, and
 Whereas, expanding Anteater Express is also necessary to help provide more campus transportation infrastructure, improve availability of parking stalls and reduce congestion around the campus, and
Whereas, additional capital expenditures are needed for Anteater Express such as the enhancement of shuttle stops to improve student safety and the purchase of newer, larger and more sustainable buses, and
Therefore let it be resolved, that the attached initiative be submitted to a vote of the undergraduate student body in the ASUCI Spring 2012 election (See attached for ballot language and guidelines).

 

 

 

Anteater Express Initiative

 

Do you approve a new $8 quarterly fee that will increase by $8 each year for the next two years to support Anteater Express?

  • In accordance with campus policy, 33% of the fee will be returned to financial aid to help offset the cost of this fee for students who are eligible for financial aid.
  • The fee will be assessed during summer sessions.
  • The fee will charged beginning in the fall quarter 2012 and be priced according to the schedule above. Starting in the fall quarter of 2015 the fee will increase annually based on the California Consumer Price Index (CPI) to offset the effects of inflation.
  • The fee shall be subject to the Anteater Express Initiative Funding Guidelines

Anteater Express Initiative

Funding Guidelines

 

MISSION STATEMENT

 

Anteater Express is a committed team of anteaters dedicated to providing safe, reliable and cost-conscious transportation.  We do this with the highest quality of customer service delivered with pride, passion and spirit, which we call Bus Love."

 

I.               The Anteater Express Initiative: The Anteater express Initiative is a quarterly undergraduate student fee of $8.00 that will increase $8.00 annually until it reaches $24.00 per quarter after two years.

II.             The Anteater Express Initiative shall only fund routes that are not contractually mandated by the University.

III.           The Anteater Express Initiative shall not fund any full time employee salaries or benefits.

IV.           All money raised through The Anteater Express Initiative shall be spent in accordance with the approval of the Anteater Express Board.  Funds left  unallocated at the end of each year will go into a reserve account, to be administrated by the following year’s board.

a.     Anteater Express Board Provisions: The office of Vice President of Administrative Affairs of ASUCI shall appoint a commissioner to chair the Anteater Express Board.

                                                                 i.     The Anteater Express Board shall be comprised of the following members.

1.     One full-time employee of Anteater Express as designated by the Executive Director of Student Government

2.     ASUCI Vice President of Administrative Affairs

3.     One Anteater Express student employee as designated by the Executive Director of Student Government

4.     Executive Director of Student Government

5.     Three At-Large student representatives appointed by the ASUCI Vice President of Administrative Affairs

6.     Legislative Council representative elected by the Council

7.     Housing student representative as designated by the Government of Undergraduate Housing (GUSH)

8.     Administrative and Business Services Representative as designated by the Asst. Vice Chancellor of Administrative and Business Services

b.     Quorum for the board is a minimum of 51% of the members present.

c.     All amendments to these guidelines will be approved by a majority vote of the Anteater Express Board.
