REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Student Representation on the Campus Physical and Environmental Committee

 Whereas ASUCI should have student representation on UCI boards and committees that make decisions that directly affect student life and welfare,

Whereas there is currently a Campus Physical and Environmental Committee (CPEC) under the office of Campus & Environmental Planning,

Whereas the CPEC “reviews all items involving development of the campus and medical center including reviewing and recommending changes to the Long Range Development Plan […]”1,

Whereas according to its webpage1 (which has not been updated since 10/04/2007) there was an ASUCI representative appointed to the committee,

Whereas since 2007 student representation on the committee has been absent,

Whereas having a student representative on this committee would allow for students’ voice to be heard in matters regarding the development of our campus,

Therefore let it be resolved that ASUCI reinstate the position of a student representative to the Campus Physical and Environmental Committee as soon as possible,

Therefore let it also be resolved that the Office of the President be responsible for selecting a candidate to represent ASUCI each academic year and for Legislative Council to approve of their selection.
