REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Appointment of Student Advocate General
Date of Presentation: November 6, 2012
 

Whereas proper judicial oversight is necessary within the governing of ASUCI in order to ensure that all by-laws and accordance policies are being followed, 

 

Whereas students have a right to legal consul and the ability to challenge legislation passed by Legislative Council or policies enacted by the Executive Branch,

 

Whereas students must have proper representation if they decide to take such action,

 

Whereas the Student Advocate General acts as a guardian of the ASUCI By-Laws and Constitution and ensures that all branches are properly following such procedures,

 

Whereas there is currently a vacancy for the position of Student Advocate General,

 

Whereas the Executive Cabinet and and Judicial Branch have jointly nominated Abdullah Siddiqui to fill the position of Student Advocate General,

 

Let it be resolved that the ASUCI Legislative Council approve the nomination of Abdullah Siddiqui and thus fill the position of the Student Advocate General.
