REQUEST FOR ACTION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 
 
All requests may be typed and submitted to the Executive Vice President no later 5:00 p.m. Thursday in order to be included in the agenda for the following Tuesday. The Executive Vice President reserves the right to delay the Request for Action to a later Council session if the Executive Vice President feels the agenda for the next schedule meeting is full.

Synopsis: Condemnation of the Appointment of the AED

 Whereas, Acting Executive Director was appointed by the Associated Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs as the Acting Executive Director (AED) for ASUCI, [1]

Whereas, the ASUCI Constitution (Article VII, Section B) says, “…the selection of the Executive Director shall be the responsibility of the Executive Cabinet and the Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs or designee. The selection of the Executive Director shall be approved by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of all voting members of the Legislative Council,”

Whereas, this appointment did not follow the appropriate process given in the constitution or have a proper student voice,

Whereas, the AED holds the same powers as the Executive Director (ED) and therefore should follow the same process of appointment,

Let it be resolved, that Legislative Council condemns the appointment process of the AED 

Let it be further resolved, that Legislative Council calls for a new appointment process with the appropriate student voice as described in the constitution for the ED,

Let it be further resolved, that Legislative Council urges Judicial Board to declare the appointment and appointment process unconstitutional,

Let it be finally resolved, that the author of this legislation, along with all voting Legislative Council members in favor of this legislation, represent Legislative Council in filing a complaint with Judicial Board regarding the appointment process of the AED.
