Whereas, Acting Executive Director was appointed by the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs as the Acting Executive Director (AED) for ASUCI, [1]

Whereas, the ASUCI Constitution (Article VII, Section B) says, “…the selection of the Executive Director shall be the responsibility of the Executive Cabinet and the Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs or designee. The selection of the Executive Director shall be approved by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of all voting members of the Legislative Council,”

Whereas, this appointment did not follow the appropriate process given in the constitution or have a proper student voice,

Whereas, the AED holds the same powers as the Executive Director (ED) and therefore should follow the same process of appointment,

Let it be resolved that a By-Law amendment be made to the ASUCI By-Laws creating XIX. ASUCI Professional Staff while changing Article XVI (INITIATIVES, REFERENDA, RECALL, AND CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS) to XX and Article XVII (AMENDMENT TO COUNCIL BY-LAWS) to XXI,

Let it be further resolved that section A. Executive Director be created under Article XIX,

Let it be further resolved that sub-section 1. be created under A. Executive Director and be written as follows:

Before any person (e.g. Acting or Interim Executive Director) is granted the powers of the Executive Director, the person must go through the same appointment process as the Executive Director (as described in the ASUCI Constitution Section B).,
